Pat O’Donnell & Co, a family owned and operated business, is Ireland’s largest supplier of plant machinery and equipment. We represent the complete range of Volvo Construction Equipment both Heavy and Compact and Volvo Penta Marine & Industrial Engines. With our Head Office in Dublin and three branches located in Cork, Galway and Portadown we offer the most extensive after-sales support available on the island of Ireland. We employ a team of Volvo Trained Service Technicians, have 85% of Parts Availability over the counter, which ensures that our customers can invest in quality capital equipment safe in the knowledge that we have both the parts and expertise available to maintain both the productivity and profitability of machinery.
The company was founded in 1970 in Swords, Dublin, by Pat O’Donnell, with the agency for the Volvo Loading Shovel, which had only a 5% share of the market at that time and within five years it brought the Volvo Loading Shovel to an undisputed position of market leader.
The company which started with only 2 employees quickly outgrew its small premises and expanded in 1973 onto the Richmond Avenue site which it occupied until 2005, gradually increasing its footprint on the area in the thirty years it remained there. The company led the field in creating a purpose built Training Centre for Service Techicians here in Ireland and this emphasis on training continues to this day.
The company has a long history of both charitable and sporting sponsorships. As well as supporting communities and activities throughout the island of Ireland, the company has engaged in a high profile Inter County GAA sponsorship of Clare Hurling and Football.
In the 23 years that Pat O’Donnell & Co. have sponsored Clare GAA, the county has won 22 Provincial and All Ireland Championships, across a number of grades. This is without doubt the most successful period Clare GAA has ever known.
