What’s in store for Volvo CE in 2023

With next year just around the corner, we look ahead to what Volvo customers can expect to see from the company in 2023.

Jaetack Lim, Head of Market Korea, demonstrates how easy it is to charge the Volvo ECR25 Electric compact excavator at the machine’s launch in South Korea in 2022.

1. Asia powers up with electric

2022 saw the launch of the first electric machine from Volvo in Asia. The Volvo ECR25 Electric compact excavator arrived in South Korea with great fanfare and will be rolled out to other Asian markets in 2023, including Singapore and Japan. Volvo CE is making huge advances globally as well and has committed to investing 32.7 million USD into its articulated hauler facility in Braås, Sweden to accelerate the shift towards electric hauling. Volvo customers can expect to see even more news in this exciting area in 2023.

2. Accelerating gender balance

Volvo Group is systematically working to improve gender balance and reach a target of 35% women among all employees and leaders by 2030. Volvo CE continues to support this goal and roll out initiatives, such as the Vera innovation workshops, named in honor of Sweden’s first female engineer Vera Sandberg, to inspire girls under the age of 10 to consider a career in engineering. In Asia, the company is equally as committed to bringing more balance to its team and reaping the rewards. Look out for more information on how it is doing that.

3. Services in the spotlight

In 2022, Volvo CE released several brand films in Asia, highlighting the role services play in ensuring the greatest possible productivity and profitability for customers. Volvo CE has one of the strongest dealer networks in the region in terms of both geographical footprint and technical competence. Through these dealers, the company also offers some of the most advanced and popular services in the industry, such as ActiveCare by Volvo. This remote machine monitoring and proactive maintenance service helped Indonesian gold miner IMK, for example, to increase productivity across its sites by approximately a third, while reducing expenditure on fuel and repairs. As 2023 progresses, customers can expect to see new services rolled out and more customer success stories like IMK’s.
