Volvo CE triumphed at the second CMME Awards in Dubai, winning accolades for Outstanding Manufacturer of the Year and Earthmoving Equipment of the Year, while FAMCO was crowned Distributor of the Year (GCC) for its exceptional customer support in the Gulf region.
Both Volvo CE and FAMCO were recognised for their contribution to construction in the Gulf region at the second CMME Awards, held at the Habtoor Polo Resort in Dubai on 8th June.
The awards, organised by leading trade magazine Construction Machinery Middle East(CMME), aim to shine a light on manufacturers, suppliers, and dealers whose innovations deliver a competitive edge, especially in the industry’s post-Covid reset.
Outstanding Manufacturer of the Year – Volvo Construction Equipment
The first accolade for Volvo CE was the coveted Outstanding Manufacturer of the Year award, which acknowledges OEMs at the forefront of innovation in the market.
“Our innovative spirit has brought us to where we are today and it means so much to have received this recognition of our achievements in introducing new products and services that enhance safety, efficiency, and profitability for contractors throughout the Gulf,” says Ilkay Fidan, Commercial Manager for Middle East at Volvo CE.
Earthmoving Equipment of the Year – Volvo A40G articulated hauler
Volvo CE also won the Earthmoving Equipment of the Year award for the Volvo A40G articulated hauler, which is widely considered a standard for earthmoving operations around the globe.
“Not resting on our laurels, we have continued to enhance our bestselling 40 t payload capacity articulated hauler through the Volvo Co-Pilot Haul Assist platform. With features such as On-Board Weighing, Tire Pressure Monitoring System and Map, we give operators valuable information in real time to help them get the most out of their machine,” says Johannes Nordgren, Product Manager for Wheel Loaders and Articulated Haulers at Volvo CE.
Distributor of the Year (GCC) – FAMCO
In addition to Volvo CE's success, FAMCO, the longstanding Volvo dealer for UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Bahrain, received the prestigious Distributor of the Year award, which reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to customer satisfaction and teamwork with Volvo CE.
“We would like to thank everyone who voted for us for this award. It is testament to the dedication and hard work of our team, as well as our close partnership with Volvo CE, in empowering contractors with high quality machines and services that drive progress across the Gulf region,” says Ramez Hamdan, Managing Director of FAMCO.
The CMME Awards incorporate a rigorous judging process that combines public votes with a specially recruited judging panel to ensure the winners truly stand out in their respective categories. The 2023 awards received more than 13,000 public votes from across the region, reflecting a high level of engagement and anticipation.
“This year, we had some really strong nominations and winners from all over the region to represent the strength and depth of the market. And even more importantly, the atmosphere in the room was fantastic with the audience really doing their bit to make it a night of celebration,” concludes Stephen White, Head of Content at CMME.
