Gabion (Thailand) receives the first SD120 machine in Thailand
Volvo CE has marked a key milestone in Thailand with the delivery of its first New Generation SD120 soil compactor, reinforcing growing demand for high-performance compaction solutions in the country’s road construction and maintenance sector.
The delivery was completed in partnership with Volvo CE’s authorised dealer in Thailand, CHAIRATCHAKARN (Bangkok) Co., Ltd. (CHAB), and supplied to local contractor Gabion (Thailand), a returning customer with an expanding Volvo fleet.
Building on strong customer confidence
The SD120 was delivered as part of a fleet package alongside a New Generation EC210 excavator, reflecting Gabion (Thailand)’s continued confidence in Volvo CE machines and aftersales support. The customer had previously purchased two EC210 units in 2025 and reported strong satisfaction with machine performance and service support, factors that influenced their decision to invest in the new compactor model. This latest order follows the official launch of the New Generation SD120 range at CHAB’s customer expo in February 2026, where the machine was introduced to the Thai market.

Growing demand for compaction solutions
The delivery comes amid increasing demand for compaction equipment in Thailand, particularly across road construction and maintenance projects. Since Q4 2025, CHAB has seen strong momentum in this segment, reflecting increased activity in infrastructure development.
To support this demand, CHAB has ordered a total of eight SD120 units from the factory, with four units already delivered and the remaining four scheduled for delivery in April.
Designed for productivity and reliability, the SD120 soil compactor delivers efficient performance across a range of compaction applications.
Key features include improved fuel efficiency and Volvo CE’s CareTrack telematics system, enabling real-time machine monitoring and proactive maintenance support.
Dwi Prihartono, Head of Market Thailand, Volvo CE, said:
“Thailand is an important market for Volvo CE, and we are seeing strong demand for efficient and reliable compaction solutions. The delivery of our first SD120 soil compactor reflects both the growing opportunities in infrastructure development and the confidence customers place in Volvo machines and services.”
Expanding Volvo CE’s presence in Thailand
With continued deliveries of the SD120 range and strong customer interest across infrastructure projects, Volvo CE and CHAB are well positioned to support Thailand’s evolving construction needs, providing machines and services that help customers improve efficiency, reduce operating costs, and maximise uptime.
Nunnapin Petcharapirat (Nan), CEO of CHAIRATCHAKARN (Bangkok) Co., Ltd. (CHAB), added:
“This delivery marks an exciting step forward for our compaction business in Thailand. Customers are increasingly looking for solutions that combine performance with strong aftermarket support. Our partnership with Volvo CE allows us to deliver both, and we are proud to support Gabion (Thailand) as they continue to grow their operations with Volvo equipment.”
