Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) has strengthened its partnership with Sin Hua Civil Engineering & Construction Pte Ltd following the delivery of multiple new machines to support major earthworks at Singapore’s Changi Airport Terminal 5 (T5) development.
The Singapore-based contractor has taken delivery of three New Generation A40 articulated haulers, three EC360 excavators, and two SD120 soil compactors, reinforcing its fleet for large-scale infrastructure works under the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) project, with Hwa Seng Builder Pte Ltd as the main contractor.
Supporting large-scale earthworks at Changi T5
The new Volvo machines are currently deployed on earth and base works for taxi pavements and aircraft parking bays at the Changi T5 site, where approximately three million cubic metres of earth material is being moved.

The SD120 soil compactors complement Sin Hua’s existing large roller fleet, ensuring consistent compaction quality across the site. The EC360 excavators are performing excavation and loading duties, working in close coordination with the newly delivered A40 articulated haulers to maximise productivity and material flow. The A40 units also operate alongside six Volvo A40 articulated haulers previously added to the fleet in June 2025.
Confidence in Volvo CE’s performance and long-term value
Sin Hua selected the SD120, A40, and EC360 after evaluating alternatives in the market, citing a combination of performance, reliability, and long-term value.
The SD120 marks the company’s first experience with Volvo’s soil compactor model in Singapore. The A40 articulated hauler was chosen for its proven design, trusted performance, and reliability. The EC360 excavator was added as part of Sin Hua’s effort to trial Volvo’s New Generation excavators, based on its perceived value for money.
Features that deliver measurable impact on the jobsite
Key machine features have delivered immediate operational benefits on site:
Operators have responded positively to the new machines, highlighting ease of use, smooth control, and improved visibility. In particular, the A40’s visibility has enhanced coordination between excavator and hauler operators, enabling easier loading and a clearer view of payload and dump body positioning.
Ivan Zhang, Director of Sin Hua Civil Engineering & Construction Pte Ltd., said:
"These machines are essential tools that help Sin Hua grow to the next level. We see this as a long-term partnership and hope to continue working together with Volvo CE Singapore, especially in managing our machinery more efficiently as our business expands."
Reliability backed by responsive after-sales support
Across all three machine types, Sin Hua reports strong uptime and reliability. This performance is further supported by Volvo CE Singapore’s after-sales team, which has provided prompt on-site response when required.
Commenting on the delivery, David Choo, Head of Market Singapore, Volvo Construction Equipment, said:
"We are proud to support Sin Hua Civil Engineering & Construction on one of Singapore’s most significant infrastructure projects. The New Generation A40, EC360, and SD120 are designed to deliver productivity, reliability, and operator comfort in demanding applications, and this project demonstrates how the right machine combination, backed by strong local support, can make a real difference on site."
Looking ahead, Sin Hua has confirmed plans to purchase additional machines as project requirements grow, reinforcing its confidence in Volvo CE’s products and local support capabilities.
