EC230 ELECTRIC CUSTOMER PILOT

THE FIRST ELECTRIFIED LARGER VOLVO EXCAVATOR

This machine, while not yet available to the market, is the next ground-breaking step for Volvo CE as it is the first time the company has electrified a larger excavator as a customer pilot.

The 22-t electric machine has been designed and built at the Volvo facilities in Changwon, South Korea, to suit a broader Asian customer base. The machine will be tested by customers in South Korea and China. During this research phase Volvo CE aims to mature it quickly so that it can be commercialized as soon as possible.

QUIET SUSTAINABLE POWER

The EC230E Electric is based on the conventional diesel-powered EC220E, and will deliver the same performance, if not better, with the added benefits of zero emissions, low noise, and low total cost of ownership.

The EC230 Electric is expected to achieve a 60-70% reduction of energy running costs, compared to the diesel-powered EC220.

CHARGING SOLUTIONS

It can work a full day (eight hours) in the target segment and application with high-power charging during a lunch break.

It is fully compatible with a Combo2-Plug, which is one of the global standard combined DC charging systems for electric vehicles up to 500kW.

APPLICATIONS

This is a general-purpose machine designed for extraction, earthmoving and grading for site preparation in the building segment, as well as waste and scrap handling in the recycling and waste segment.
