Spanning about 70,000 square meters and over 130 years of production history, this sizable Volvo Group core plant has been manufacturing wheel loaders since 1966. Today, some of our most well-known models are produced here, from the L60 to the L350. At the Arvika plant, visitors can experience the entire lean production process from welding to finished machine, and meet the skilled people making it happen. Its extensive welding shop, where frames, attachment brackets and booms are being fabricated, consumes approx. 500 tons welding wire per year, which is more than all other Volvo plants combined.
The plant is closed holidays and from mid-July to mid-August for summer vacation.
The Arvika plant has an amazing history, from the start as a small blacksmith's shop in 1885, to today's high tech and Lean-oriented facility. In its own museum, situated in the heart of the factory, a number of the machines from throughout the years are on display, including ploughs, harvesters, tracked vehicles and wheel loaders.
