Tomas Kuta is Senior Vice President of Sales at Volvo Construction Equipment.
Tomas was born and grew up in Prague in the Czech Republic. He studied Machine Engineering at the Technical University of Czechoslovakia before moving to the US in 1986 where his career centered on marketing and sales, both in North America and in Chile. Tomas also completed the University of Michigan School of Business Administration’s Executive Management Program, focusing on sales, finance and the management of managers, from its campus in Paris, France.
Prior to his role as Senior Vice President of Sales at Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE), Tomas spent four and a half years as President of Volvo CE’s Sales Region EMEA (Europe-Middle East-Africa) organization, as well as three and a half years as head of Volvo CE’s Global Customer Support organization. He has worked for Volvo CE since 1997, joining as Area Manager for Southern Europe and Latin America. This was followed by a posting which saw him Responsible for Marketing Articulated Haulers in North America. Tomas subsequently became a regional Vice President for Articulated Haulers and later assumed responsibility for the marketing of articulated haulers globally.
During his time with Volvo Tomas has also played active roles in opening up the Indian, Polish and South African markets for Volvo CE and he supported the company’s early efforts in China.
From 2005-2008 Tomas was based in Moscow as President of Volvo CE’s Russian, Ukrainian and Belarusian sales organization. This posting coincided with a period of rapid growth in the region, helping deliver consecutive annual growth rates of over 100%.
Throughout his career at Volvo Tomas has served on several boards, including Volvo Parts Corporation and Volvo Ukraine. He has also acted as Chairman of the Construction Equipment Committee at the Association of European Businesses in Russia.
Tomas is an accomplished skier and enjoys travelling and exploring countries and cultures around the world.
