Volvo’s EW145B takes Prime mover advantage

Volvo Construction Equipment’s EW145B Prime is destined to become a formidable performer in the Russian market, offering good digging and lifting performance with the added convenience (thanks to twin wheels as standard) of being able to work in highway situations – even travelling at speeds of up to 37 km/h between sites without the need for additional transport. The EW145B Prime is fitted with a new Volvo D6E six-cylinder engine, boasting high power and torque. And thanks to a common rail fuel system and IEGR internal exhaust gas recirculating system, the EW145B also offers excellent fuel efficiency and low emission and noise levels.

A force to be reckoned with

The EW145B Prime’s high-performing hydraulics incorporate the latest technology, including flow regeneration and automatic priority – systems that help enable the machine to perform at its best in all conditions. The advanced hydraulics also reduce fuel consumption when travelling and includes both a ‘creep’ working mode and cruise control function. The EW145B Prime brings with it operator-selected working modes, and a fuel-saving G5 mode is included for more economical operation when conducting lighter work.

The front axle is configured with an automatic or operator-controlled front axle oscillation lock. The EW145B Prime is fitted with Volvo’s hydraulic quick fit attachment system for rapid tool changes.

Inside the cab, things are comfortable and quiet, with sound levels at an easy-on-the-ear 72dB – all the better for the operator to hear the radio, CD or MP3 player. The cab has other features designed to reduce operator fatigue, including multi-adjustable seat and hydraulic dampening mounts that soak up shocks and vibration. Good all-around visibility is courtesy of a large glazed area, and the pressurized and filtered cab air is supplied by an automatic fan, distributed via 13 vents.

Defining features

Thanks to extended service intervals these machines don’t often stop work – but when they do need to be serviced, maintenance is easy and downtime minimal. Filters have been grouped together in a centralized location for improved serviceability.
