Power at the forefront with the revolutionary new China-focused Volvo L105 wheel loader

The L105 is the latest mid-sized wheel loader from Volvo Construction Equipment, designed specifically to meet the needs of customers in China.

Optimized for high productivity in bucket applications but also able to deal with quick attachment changeovers in pallet and mining applications, the mid-sized Volvo L105 wheel loader from Volvo Construction Equipment is a fetch-and-carry workhorse as adaptable as it is powerful.

The L105 is a powerful performer, with a muscular Volvo six-cylinder diesel engine as its centerpiece, providing high torque at low RPM — resulting in fuel economy that’s as impressive as its performance. An engine cooling system, together with Volvo’s unique eco pedal — which pushes back to encourage the operator to ease off the throttle — results in further fuel efficiency gains. Furthermore, the engine electronic control unit (E-ECU) features software that ensures optimum performance and long service life, accurately calculating the amount of fuel injected to exactly meet the prevailing work conditions.

The muscles to lift — and shift

The L105’s Z-bar linkage is durable and strong enough to take on tough jobs — with high breakout torque, rim pull and lifting force working together for prime bucket fill. Automatic bucket leveler and boom kick-out functions stop the bucket and linkage quickly and precisely. Hydraulically operated disc brakes offer powerful stopping forces for greater safety and increased control. The loader’s central articulated hinge is perfectly dimensioned to weather stresses, reducing the risk of fault in tough conditions.

Two strong, high-quality, premium gear pumps are fitted, allowing high working hydraulic pressure and providing superior control of the load and attachments – as well as high breakout force, fast lifting and tilt functions. O-ring face seal technology ensures that hydraulic connections are leak free and resistant to high pressure, vibration and twisting. Transmissions feature a robust torque converter and the company’s Volvo Automatic Power Shift (APS) concept, which ensures the loader always operates in the most appropriate gear by sensing engine and travel speed, kick-down, engine braking and other factors. Offering operators a choice of four gear-shifting programs, APS results in more efficient work cycles with lower fuel consumption and wear.

Industry-leading Care Cab

The Volvo Care Cab fitted to these wheel loaders extends its already legendary status. ROPS/FOPS-approved, visibility in the spacious cabin is excellent to the rear, to the bucket edge and to the centrally located instrumentation. With controls that fall easily to hand, operators can breathe easy thanks to efficient air-management and filtering systems. The comfortable, clean, low-noise and low-vibration work environment allows operators to work even more productively and efficiently.

Stress-free servicing

The L105 comes with advanced electronic monitoring diagnostics that are designed to prolong machine life, enhance uptime and maximize productivity. Contronics monitors functions in real time and alerts the operator if problems occur. MATRIS, meanwhile, charts and analyzes data on machine handling and operation.

Servicing is made easy, with daily pre-start items quickly checked, and scheduled service items conveniently grouped together. And consumables like filters are easy to reach and easy to replace.

The L105 is available with a large number of purpose-built Volvo buckets to suit applications such as iron ore handling, rehandling and light material buckets in coal handling. And it isn’t just buckets – there’s a wide range of other attachments available, as well as brackets that make changing tools fast and easy. All are designed and approved by Volvo to work in harmony with the machines’ link-arm geometry, breakout, rim pull and lifting forces.
