Volvo Construction Equipment has been ranked first among all off-highway original equipment manufacturers for electrification leadership, according to new independent research from Interact Analysis published in September 2026.
The benchmark assessed 28 construction and mining OEMs against five metrics: the breadth of commercially available electric portfolio, battery-electric unit sales in 2025, the presence of measurable electrification targets, in-house powertrain capabilities, and charging and infrastructure provision. Volvo CE topped the resulting ranking of ten, ahead of Epiroc, Liugong, XCMG, and Sandvik.
The result recognises an approach that goes beyond individual electric models to encompass machines, charging infrastructure, and a clear commercial commitment.
“I’m proud to see Volvo CE ranked number one in Interact Analysis’ new global benchmark of off-highway electrification,” said Mats Sköldberg, Head of Technology, Volvo Construction Equipment. “Electrification is not simply about replacing a diesel machine with an electric one — it has to work in the customer’s operation, for the application, the operating cycle, and the business. The machine itself is only one part of the equation. Charging, infrastructure, and how everything fits together in the operation matter just as much.”
Interact Analysis concluded that Volvo CE’s position reflects the breadth of its approach to electrification — one that extends well beyond launching individual electric models. The ranking rewards OEMs that have built across machines, infrastructure, and commitment simultaneously, and Volvo CE’s combination of electric equipment across construction and roadbuilding applications, its integrated charging solutions, and its publicly stated target of 35% of machines sold to be fully electric by 2030 gave it the strongest overall profile of any OEM assessed.
