Volvo CE introduces 10 tonne oscillatory compactor

Complete with new oscillation technology, the DD105 OSC double drum compactor from Volvo Construction Equipment has the ability to effectively compact in delicate areas, such as bridges, over pipes and close to residential areas.

The 10 tonne DD105 OSC asphalt compactor from Volvo Construction Equipment is engineered for efficiency, ensuring increased profitability while minimizing fuel consumption, emissions and noise.

Fitted with flexibility of Volvo’s oscillation technology, which eliminates vertical vibrations, the DD105 OSC offers high compaction performance while producing a non-damaging oscillation movement. This transfers less stress to the surrounding surface, enabling compaction in more delicate application areas, such as bridges, over pipes and close to residential areas.
Featuring a 1,680 mm (66.1 in) wide drum with hardened, abrasion-resistant alloy steel drum shell, the DD105 OSC is powered by an advanced Tier 4 Final D3.8 Volvo engine, helping this robust machine deliver high performance.

Tailored compaction in fewer passes

In addition to the oscillation technology, adapting to different jobsites is easy. With the option of using a drum with eight amplitude settings or two, changes can be made according to the surroundings and material depth, adding further to the machine’s versatility. Selecting the amplitude most suitable for the mix conditions and thickness enables the operator to reach a higher quality of work in fewer passes.

The DD105 OSC is built to work hard and offers features that are designed with the operator in mind. The open ROPS/FOPS canopy and the optional enclosed cab combine comfort, control and visibility, ensuring a productive operator environment. From the air suspension seat, the operator has a commanding view of the jobsite, as well as clear sightlines down to the drum and spray bars, enhancing safety and rolling precision. The view of curbs and obstructions is enhanced with off-set steering, aiding precise compaction. With ergonomically-positioned controls and joystick, maneuverability is improved for the operator, who can rely on the Anti-Slip Control to easily load and unload the machine without damaging the pavement.

Ultimate performance and uptime

To accommodate variable site conditions, the Volvo DD105 OSC double drum compactor is equipped with features that ensure a smooth and consistent mat finish. The drum vibration system enables operators to achieve target density across different applications, by utilizing a high centrifugal force and 8-amplitude option. In appropriate amplitudes, the compactor operates more effectively, helping operators achieve a high quality finish in fewer passes.

The DD105 OSC features an industry-leading, automatic drum water system with triple filtration, providing uniform coverage with variable flow to prevent material pick-up. With features that include primary and backup pumps, primary and backup spray bars for each drum, hand serviceable nozzles, as well as drum wipers, the automatic drum wetting system delivers unbeatable efficiency for ultimate machine availability.

The easy life

Beyond operator comfort and productivity-enhancing features, the DD105 OSC double drum compactor is designed for simple service and maintenance. The swing-up hood provides complete access to the engine and hydraulic components, for efficient service inspections and maintenance. Utilizing a single key, technicians can access daily service hatches, while fuses and relays are grouped together. With ground-level access to the engine, radiator, battery and filters, daily checkpoints are unobstructed, making maintenance easy. Volvo’s extensive local dealer support network ensures machine uptime, helping customers generate maximum profit and grow their business.
