DBKL strengthens urban infrastructure operations with Volvo CE’s EW205D Wheeled Excavator

DBKL takes delivery of the EW205D Wheeled Excavator

Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (DBKL), the city council responsible for administering Malaysia’s capital city, has taken delivery of a Volvo CE EW205D Wheeled Excavator, which is now supporting a range of urban infrastructure and municipal maintenance projects across Kuala Lumpur.

The EW205D is designed to deliver strong performance, operator comfort, and safety for demanding infrastructure applications.

The machine is currently being used for essential city works, including drainage upgrading and cleaning, road maintenance and reinstatement, utility repairs, landscaping projects, and emergency response operations such as flood mitigation and disaster recovery.

Operating within Kuala Lumpur’s busy and space-constrained environment, the wheeled configuration of the EW205D allows DBKL to move quickly between multiple job sites without requiring a low-loader. This mobility enables efficient deployment across the city and is particularly valuable during urgent repair or emergency response operations.

Designed for urban operations

DBKL selected the EW205D based on Volvo CE’s reputation for quality, safety, and reliability, as well as the machine’s suitability for municipal applications.

The machine delivers the power and manoeuvrability required for daily infrastructure maintenance across the city. Its compact footprint, high travel speed, and road-going capability enable efficient relocation between job sites while maintaining strong productivity during operations.

Operator feedback has also been positive. The EW205D features a spacious and ergonomic cabin, smooth control response, and reduced vibration and noise levels, helping operators remain comfortable and productive during long working hours. The intuitive display and control interface further simplifies machine operation.

According to DBKL, the machine has demonstrated reliable performance and strong uptime since entering service, supporting the city council’s ability to carry out maintenance and repair works on schedule.
