The EC950F large crawler excavator
Organised by long-standing Japanese distributor Yamazaki Machinery, visitors to Volvo Days 2025 were treated to an impressive line-up of Volvo machines. On display at the event were Volvo Articulated Haulers, Electric Machines, Wheel Loaders, Wheeled Excavators, Compact Excavators, as well as New Generation Excavators, notably the EC230, EC400, EC950, and ECR145. The event also featured a display from Volvo Trucks and a live demonstration of the engcon tilt rotator on the final day.
A major highlight was the debut of the New Generation EC230 and ECR145 Excavators that drew strong interest during the test-drive sessions. With a venue designed to mirror real-world construction conditions, including wood and excavation soil, guests were able to fully experience the machines’ quiet operation, powerful digging capabilities, and intuitive handling.
Built for power and efficiency
The New Generation EC230 is a 23-tonne class crawler excavator that strikes a balance between performance, fuel efficiency, and precision. It is designed for general construction, earthmoving, and utility work, offering enhanced digging force and breakout torque for heavy-duty operations.
Equipped with an advanced electro-hydraulic system, the New Generation EC230 ensures optimal flow distribution for faster cycle times and improved fuel economy. Operators benefit from a redesigned spacious cab featuring low noise levels, high visibility, and ergonomic controls, all contributing to reduced fatigue and higher productivity throughout the day.
With multiple boom and arm configurations and compatibility with a wide range of attachments, the New Generation EC230 is a versatile workhorse suited for diverse job site conditions. Additionally, it incorporates Volvo’s newest generation of engine, aligning with environmental regulations and reducing carbon impact.
Compact size with big performance
Ideal for work in urban environments, roadside developments, or confined job sites, the New Generation ECR145 is a short swing radius crawler excavator that delivers big-machine performance in a compact footprint.
Its tight tail swing radius significantly reduces the risk of machine damage or accidents in restricted areas, while its powerful lifting and digging capabilities ensure it doesn’t compromise on output. Featuring Volvo’s latest hydraulic system and load-sensing technology, the New Generation ECR145 delivers smooth, precise operation, even in complex digging or grading applications.
The machine’s operator environment is also best-in-class, featuring adjustable seating, intuitive interfaces, and improved air circulation. Routine maintenance is simplified with grouped service points and ground-level access, boosting overall uptime.
