Thanks to a lifting capacity of 6 tonnes, it can meet the demands of a range of tasks across segments such as urban infrastructure maintenance, waste and recycling, agriculture, forestry, and ports and logistics centers. What is more, it offers a lower operating cost with an energy cost reduction compared to a diesel driveline. With no engine-related parts, it also ensures 30% reduced maintenance requirements and increased uptime to improve your productivity.

Efficiency features

This is thanks to a number of efficiency-boosting features, such as dedicated electric motors for propulsion and hydraulics, enabling full available power to both systems and an increased ease of operation. The dual thermal control system secures optimal temperature, efficiency and a good lifetime of components. The L120 Electric benefits from an active cooling and heating of high voltage batteries, and a passive cooling of electrical motors, transmission and hydraulic oil. And the renowned Torque Parallel linkage ensures parallel movements and a balanced breakout force, while a range of Volvo Attachments increases the versatility of tasks the machine can undertake.

Thanks to a range of powerful charging solutions, complete a full day’s work on a single charge, or take advantage of a quick top-up during work breaks. The electric wheel loader can achieve 5-9 hours of operation across most light and medium duty tasks.

Reliable runtime

The fast charging options include the 180 kW DC charger allowing a power-up from 10 to 100% in one hour 40 minutes and the 40 kW DC charger for overnight charging, ensuring a charge from 0 to 100% in 7 hours. Meanwhile, the PU500 Mobile Power Unit is available to help fully charge in one hour 40 minutes. Finally, the My Equipment digital tool helps ensure your machine is ready for action with valuable insights into battery status, machine hours and geographic location.

The machine’s electrical drive motors act as generators when the operator is decelerating, helping to recover energy that can then be re-used.

Energy recovery function

The recuperation of braking energy helps to charge the battery and prolong your runtime. It also ensures decreased brake wear and the reduced need of axle oil cooling.

Near silence creates a much more pleasant environment for the operator. And with no engine sounds to compete with, those working on site will find it easier to communicate and will suffer from less fatigue.

Increased comfort

Improved conditions are also due to other standard features such as Load Assist applications, including On-Board Weighing. The L120 Electric also enjoys all the benefits from the conventional model, including electro-hydraulic lever controls for smooth control and less heat in the cab, and auto bucket leveling functions.
