1832 – Johan Theofron Munktell

Johan Theofron Munktell, the son of a clergyman, founded what today is Volvo Construction Equipment some 180 years ago. He was at that time only 27 years young but already a technical genius and innovator.

Amongst many types of early construction machinery, he was the inventor of Sweden's first printing press and machinery for making coins.

Munktell's idea of a company based on quality, innovation and technical expertise is an important part of Swedish industrial history. In fact, the company he founded back in 1832 is today the oldest industrial company in the world still active in the field of construction machinery. That is something to be proud of.

In 1849, Johan was dubbed Knight of the Order of Vasa. That is something to be proud of too.
