In the mid-1800s, the old agricultural society underwent far-reaching industrial development. Homesteads all over the nation seethed with an eager entrepreneurial spirit. Three energetic technical talents in particular found the climate favourable for their ideas and innovations.

They had certain things in common – their technical genius, their enthusiasm – and the fact that all three were sons of clergymen. Johan Theofron Munktell and the brothers Jean and Carl Gerhard Bolinder built up the company of Bolinder-Munktell. Today, this is Volvo Construction Equipment, which combines state-of-the-art technology with 180 years of technical and industrial traditions.
