For several years now, we’ve offered a range of compact electric wheel loaders and excavators. That lineup is now expanding to larger machines starting with the EC230 Electric excavator — the first medium size, in-house designed excavator in the industry.
The 23-ton EC230 Electric is based on the conventional diesel-powered EC220E and will deliver the same, if not better, performance with the added benefits of zero emissions and a low total cost of ownership. It’s expected to achieve a 60-70% reduction of energy running costs compared to the EC220E.
Your operators will love the instant torque from the electric motor compared to the slight delay they get from some diesel-powered machines.
The EC230 Electric is a general-purpose machine designed for extraction, earthmoving and grading for site preparation, as well as waste and scrap handling. This machine can get it done with less maintenance and at a lower cost, so you can put more focus on expanding the types of jobs you take on.
You can expect 4 to 5 hours of active operating time on one charge, and charging with a DC Fast Charger over lunch will allow it to run another 4-5 hours in the afternoon. You can then charge the machine overnight and start another workday the next morning.
Diesel power will have a place in our industry for years to come — but don’t get left behind as more and more electric machines make their way onto jobsites across North America.
