Advanced Operator Training

Take your efficiency to the next level

Advanced Operator Training

Advanced Operator Training, also known as EcoOperator Training, is an advanced course for already-experienced operators, with a primary focus on efficiency. The program helps operators be more productive, while reducing fuel consumption, machine wear and tear, and unplanned downtime – for a more profitable and environmentally caring operation.

What you get

Optimum efficiency

With a greater awareness of their machinery and applications, operators can plan and perform their work more effectively, to do more with less, boosting efficiency and profitability.

Higher productivity

With a good understanding of the many intelligent features and functions of their Volvo machines, operators can use their machinery to its full potential.

Safer operation

Training enables operators to continually refine their skills and operating practices, helping to lower the risk of incidents or accident.

Reduced wear, reduced costs

Training helps to prevent unnecessary strain being put on the machine, minimising wear and tear – hence reducing costs.

More uptime

Correct machine use keeps your machines in good condition and reduces the risk of unplanned downtime, while increasing machine lifetime and residual value.

Increased operator satisfaction

Training is proven to increase job satisfaction, resulting in happier and more productive operators. A commitment to employee development also helps attract talented operators.

Training pays off

Money invested in operator development is money well spent. A skilled machine operator works faster and more efficiently – saving time and fuel. Suitable operator training will help boost your profitability, reducing both operating costs and environmental impact.

Netherlands

Ton Driessen, Wheel loader operator (Wienerberger)

“Before the EcoOperator training I always ran on full power, now I achieve the same productivity with half the pace.”

Algeria

Kader salhi, Production manager (SAPAM)

“After the training, we noticed a decrease in the cost of fuel, tires and spare parts.”

Sweden

Anders Johansson, Team leader (Econova)

“When you have operated wheel loaders for 23 years you think you know everything. But it's impressive how much you can learn and improve your skills, taking the EcoOperator course. You learn how to save time and money together with the environment.”

Netherlands

Peter Amsen, Plant Manager (Wienerberger)

“We saved 4 liters of fuel per hour - a 20% cut - that is a lot!”
“Based on the great results, we will conduct the EcoOperator training at our other sites as well.”

How it works

Volvo advanced operator training

The EcoOperator Training program covers a broad range of areas where the operator can affect the outcome of your operation. The Volvo instructor works closely with operators to enhance their knowledge and give them the skills to deliver the best possible performance.

Assess

Data analysis
The instructor performs an initial machine data analysis, to identify opportunities for improvement.

Site visit
To gather more information and complete the assessment phase, a site visit is organised. This includes machine inspection as well as assessments of operating practices and site conditions.

Improve

Theory
Operators complete a theoretical training to gain in-depth knowledge of best practices, including both operating techniques and overall efficiency. Our instructors work with the latest training tools to deliver long-term sustained improvements.

Practice
Operators get “hands-on”, applying the techniques previously learned. This can be completed with ready-to-use practical exercises, or during the operator's daily work, coached by the instructor.

Sustain

Follow up
A few months later, a new machine data analysis is performed. A summary of the results is provided along with recommendations for any further improvements.

A powerful report

To better understand your operation and to put a value on your potential savings, the instructor will create the first EcoOperator Report when visiting your site. With fact-based information regarding operating practices, the instructor can customise the training program to your specific areas of improvements.

During the follow-up phase, a new EcoOperator Report will be created to highlight improvements and savings achieved compared to performance before training.

Smart training tools

To support the training program, as well as sustain the results achieved, your Volvo dealer can offer a range of smart solutions. Below are some examples.

Advanced Training Simulators

Irrespective of bad weather or lack of machines, the practical parts of the EcoOperator Training can always be performed in a state-of-the-art Volvo simulator.

With both excavator, wheel loader and articulated hauler configurations available, Volvo simulators accurately replicate real site and machine handling conditions to give operators an authentic job-site experience. Operator efficiency and productivity are measured in detail while operating the simulator to help track performance and monitor improvement.

Insight reports

Powered by CareTrack telematics system, Insight Reports can be the perfect support material for operator training. A comprehensive portfolio of reports provides information related to the health, efficiency and productivity of the Volvo machines, and gives operators easy-to-digest information on how their operating style affects machine performance.
