Established in 1974 by Mike Donnelly, Cambrian Equipment Ltd has grown from a single franchise distributor to today’s multi- franchise dealership for plant and machinery, spare parts stockiest, engine servicing dealers and product service support. This now includes the Volvo range of Compact Construction Equipment – a name that Cambrian are very proud to represent and distribute in the region.
The Cambrian business started life from meagre beginnings sharing a small agricultural premises in Bridgend and within 12 months had outgrown this location and established itself in Culverhouse Cross, Cardiff. Within four years of trading from this location Cambrian required larger premises again and purchased a 1.5 acre Plant Hire & Transport Depot close to their existing site at Ely Bridge, Cardiff which allowed them all necessary facilities for the Companies future years operations. This location still works well for the business and its customer base with easy access to the M4 motorway in both East and West major routes.

Located at Ely Bridge, Cardiff, Cambrian have an extensive retail shop offering comfortable surroundings for this particular client base. Included in this indoor area is a range of Construction machinery for which clients can discuss their current & future needs with a member of staff. Housed in the same building is a substantial holding of a spare parts that can keep products rolling on site. Adjacent to the main offices and stores building is a separate workshop where servicing and overhauls are undertaken across a wide variety of equipment . In addition a welding service is offered and on-site servicing is undertaken both as an emergency or planned maintenance schedule agreed with the client.
Meet the team
Lisa Donnelly: Lisa joined the Cambrian business in 1985 after she and Mike met through a chance meeting within the Construction Industry. She is now Finance Commercial Operating Director and is directly involved in the future planning of Cambrian in South Wales, taking a keen interest in the way in which the business is changing and complimenting these changes with new methods and standards within the business. Client communication is an important factor for all businesses’ and Lisa has created a new part of the business dedicated to digitally communicating with its wide customer base in the region, and across the UK. Additionally, employing more team members to support us with this plan.
Neil Davies: is one of those new members who joined the team late in 2016 as Sales Manager. Neil brings with him 26 years’ industry experience and is looking forward to meeting Cambrian’s customers. “I began working with plant and tools when I was 18 and then worked at a few companies, building knowledge along the way. I’m enjoying my new role and familiarisng myself with Cambrian’s customer base. I’m really looking forward to building enhanced relationships with our customers and supporting them with their requirements now and in the future.”
Aimee Flanagan: the newest appointee on the team will be handling account management, target setting and in house marketing strategies. A qualified quantity surveyor, Aimee is looking forward to the challenge ahead. “My vision is to bring innovative and creative concepts to the team by working collaboratively towards one common goal – driving Sales forward. Setting clear objectives to bring out the best in each individuals’ role, should enhance overall performance allowing contemporary service, whilst upholding the family’s traditional values.”
