Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) has announced that Thorsten Poszwa has been appointed as its new Global Director of External Communications. Based at the company’s Brussels headquarters, the role encompasses print and online media relations for the business, as well as developing worldwide external communication standards and practices for Volvo CE. He will also take responsibility for the company’s customer magazine, Spirit, as its new Editor-in-Chief.
This appointment comes almost exactly 10 years to the day since Poszwa joined Volvo CE’s German sales organization. He has spent much of the last decade in a range of marketing and communication roles based in Germany, notably in the organisation of Volvo’s major presence at the triennial Bauma exhibition. In his most recent role Poszwa has been manager of marketing and communications for Volvo Construction Equipment Germany, GmbH, based in the Bavarian town of Ismaning, near Munich.
“After a decade promoting Volvo CE’s products and services in Europe’s largest market, now is a thrilling time to take on a more global role,” commented Poszwa. “With the Volvo CE brands more respected than ever before I am excited and proud at the prospect of continuing the longstanding and successful two-way dialogue with our customers, via a range of traditional and new media channels. It will be my job to continue Volvo CE’s role as a thought leader in the industry and effectively communicate both Volvo’s technical innovations and its core values of Quality, Safety and Environmental Care.”
Poszwa, 46, is a keen reader of fiction, traveler and opera fan. He holds both a business degree from the University of Sciences & Arts in Dortmund, Germany and is currently finalizing an MBA from the prestigious Berlin University for Professional Studies, with a particular focus on marketing and leadership. Poszwa will take up his new position on May 1st. He will be based in Brussels, Belgium, where he will relocate.
