Features and benefits for A40 Electric

Explore what sets the A40 Electric apart
The best in its class.
Discover the ultimate in hauler performance, with best-in-class off-road capability, unmatched operator comfort and intelligent technology.
A40 Electric

The best in its class.

Volvo Articulated Haulers deliver best-in-class off-road performance, and the A40 Electric is no exception. Key features include the proven Volvo drivetrain, automatic drive combinations (and 100% differential locks), all-terrain bogie and hydro-mechanical steering for unmatched traction, stability and precision control. With Volvo Dynamic Drive, dynamic and predictive gear selection adapts to the operating conditions at hand. Work harder for longer with sturdy, durable and heavy-duty axles that withstand heavier loads and higher levels of torque and stress. The strength and stability provided by the axles contribute to higher uptime, reduced wear, longer service intervals and lower maintenance costs.

Maximum productivity

The proven Volvo drivetrain with automatic traction control, dynamic drive and adaptive shifting ensures optimal efficiency on every surface. With superb tipping stability, excellent maneuverability and smart solutions like Volvo production support systems for both operators and site managers, every load counts.

Unrivalled operator comfort

The low-noise A40 Electric takes the already class-leading operator environment to a new level, providing the highest levels of operator comfort and helping your business attract and retain the very best operators. Combine this with the intuitive interface, ergonomic controls, spacious cab and premium seat options, and the A40 Electric offers an operator environment like no other. Easy entry, smart storage and excellent visibility keep operators safe, comfortable and productive, shift after shift.

Safer, smarter working

Features such as cruise control, dynamic braking, dump support and Haul Assist help operators work smarter and safer. Ambient lighting and integrated cameras further support confident, productive working.

Easy and safe servicing

Service access is quick and easy with essential maintenance points accessible from ground level or guarded platforms. Conveniently located at ground level, the electrical service center features a service switch (including Lock Out Tag Out) and provides easy access to check the 24V system.

Electrify your hauling – without compromise

With an impressive runtime and easy charging, get ready to electrify your articulated hauler operations with the zero tailpipe emissions and low-noise A40 Electric Articulated Hauler. A move to electric machinery means cleaner, quieter and more sustainable jobsites – without compromising performance. Successfully adopting electric machinery into your operation can help you meet sustainability targets, stay ahead of regulations, provide a long-term return on investment and present your company as forward-thinking and forward moving.

Impressive runtime

Featuring an impressive runtime, the A40 Electric is designed to be suitable for nearly all applications. With careful charge planning, most jobs can be managed without interrupting the site production process.

Easy and fast to charge

The A40 Electric is easy to charge with a variety of charging solutions to suit your needs from 350 kW CCS1/CCS2 fast charging as standard (charging from 20%-80% in around 1 hour), through to scheduled and overnight low-power DC charging. The charging port is conveniently located in the left overrider at the front. Simply open the CCS1/CCS2 port, insert the charging gun and let the machine wake up to start charging - indicated by a status light.

Lower energy and maintenance costs

Electric haulers can offer significant savings, both in terms of reduced energy costs and lower maintenance requirements thanks to fewer moving parts and no requirement for engine-related consumables.  With zero tailpipe emissions, the environmental impact of the machine is also significantly reduced thanks to a dramatic reduction in CO2 and the elimination of harmful NOx gases and PM particles, improving air quality and protecting the health and well-being of everyone in and around the jobsite.

My Equipment App

My Equipment is a web-based application that tracks the status of your Volvo machinery and is specifically designed with the operator in mind. The tool makes it easy and simple to track vital data such as battery charging status and power consumption, wherever you are at any time.
