Volvo CE upgrades L30 and L35 compact wheel loaders for greater versatility and uptime

Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) is upgrading its L30 and L35 compact wheel loaders with their most significant frame redesign since the machines were introduced in 1998. The updates give customers more flexibility to adapt the machines for different jobs, while improving service access and everyday operation.

Making their public debut at GaLaBau in Nuremberg in September 2026, the updated L30 and L35 feature a redesigned rear end with new possibilities for fitting equipment, improved service access and a redesigned cab entrance.

The upgrades build on the established performance of the L30 and L35, including strong lifting and breakout forces, precise pallet-fork handling and excellent traction.

Arno Michels, Global Product Manager at Volvo CE, said: “Customers use the L30 and L35 across a wide variety of applications, often asking one machine to perform several different jobs. These updates make it simpler to adapt the machine as those needs change, while also improving servicing and daily operation.”

Easier adaptation for changing jobs and applications

A redesigned rear end makes the L30 and L35 more adaptable to different applications. New mounting points simplify the installation of rear-mounted equipment, helping customers get more from one machine as their needs change.

Rear-mounted equipment and different trailer couplings can be fitted quickly, while hydraulic and electrical connections can be added or retrofitted with less installation work.

This added flexibility complements the L30 and L35’s existing hydraulic capabilities, including adjustable auxiliary flow and high-flow hydraulics of up to 100 l/min on the L30 and 110 l/min on the L35, supporting a wide range of attachments.

Improved service access to support machine uptime

The redesigned rear of the machine also gives technicians better access for servicing and repairs. Split side-mounted counterweights can be removed when needed, while a larger opening in the front frame improves access to key components and simplifies the installation of additional hydraulic or electrical equipment.

These updates complement existing uptime features including ground-level service access, long service intervals, machine monitoring and Volvo telematics services.

Redesigned cab access for operator comfort

Operators will also notice a redesigned cab entrance, with three ergonomically positioned steps, well-placed handrails and a wide-opening door providing straightforward access throughout the working day.

Inside, a high seating position and good all-round visibility provide a clear view of the machine, attachment and surrounding jobsite. Low in-cab noise, heating and optional air conditioning, an adjustable steering column and ergonomic joystick help keep operators comfortable throughout the working day.

A 5-inch display, intuitively controlled via a jog wheel, provides easy access to key machine information.

Michels concluded: “These updates build on everything customers already value about the L30 and L35. We’ve focused on practical improvements that make a real difference in everyday use, helping customers get even more from two already proven machines.”

Production of the updated Volvo L30 and L35 compact wheel loaders is scheduled to begin in late 2026.
