To strengthen our leadership team we are interested to meet with candidates for the new position of Business Unit Manager to lead a team of sales professionals and be responsible for increasing the profitability of existing territories (Benelux) and developing new territories (Central and West Africa).

Purpose of the position

The Business Unit Manager is responsible for the sales and business development of the Sennebogen Greenline and Craneline product and service portfolio in Benelux and Africa. 

The Business Unit Manager is responsible for the design, execution and evaluation of the commercial strategy of SMT in the assigned regions and will be focusing on growing market share, revenues and profitability.

As business partner the Business Unit Manager is the driving force to the Managing Directors to leverage the Volvo network for the expansion of Sennebogen product portfolio. The BU Manager is supported by 6 local, dedicated Sales Managers. As a manager, the Business Unit Manager is responsible for the qualitative and quantitative staffing of his teams.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Serve as the internal and external focal point working closely with key customers
  • New Business Development, proposal preparation, booking orders. Profit and Loss accountability
  • Responsible for business results (P&L, sales and marketing budgets and working capital) 
  • Develop and maintain customer relationships. Responsible for contract negotiations, Service Level Agreements and identifying profitable new business opportunitie
  • Support field sales through customer interface at key accounts
  • Ensure that terms and conditions of new proposals and contracts conform to SMT company’s policy and business plan
  • Working with principals and the sales team on enhancing the brand image
  • Responsibility for all marketing communications activities
  • Leadership, goal setting and review, development and follow-up, performance, etc. for the sales team

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree (commercial and or mechanical engineering,)
  • Minimum of 10 years technical sales and product management experience
  • Strong leadership skills, goal driven, attracts and develops talent
  • Successful in managing customer relationships and business development
  • Highly motivated to achieve business plans while at the same time investing in and building for longer term growth and stability
  • Powerful implementation and execution skills
  • Good knowledge of the Dutch, English and French language.
  • This role will entail approximately 30% travelling to Central and West Africa
