Volvo Construction Equipment’s ‘Safety For You’ campaign has been shortlisted for a prestigious European Excellence Award.

Particularly targeting customers in the on-shore oil and gas industry Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) has launched a range of pipelaying equipment that it believes represents the most significant innovation the sector has seen in the past 80 years.

Today, April 30, 2007, Volvo concluded the acquisition of US based Ingersoll Rand’s road development equipment division, other than operations in India which will follow shortly. The division will be consolidated in the Volvo Group from May 1, 2007. The transaction was initially announced on February 27, 2007.

Volvo CE has launched an updated version of their CareTrack remote machine monitoring system which now offers Basic or Advanced functionality.

The L350F, the largest wheel loader ever produced by Volvo Construction Equipment, makes great strides forward in productivity, comfort and reliability.

The Volvo Group has the world’s most modern range of heavy diesel engines. The new heavy diesel engine family will comply with all known emissions standards that successively will become effective through to 2014. The development effort was carried out within the Group and the result is being recognized with the Volvo Technology Award 2007.

Volvo has reached an agreement with Ingersoll Rand to acquire the assets of the company’s road development division, a world-leading manufacturer of heavy equipment for road construction and soil compaction with revenues of USD 864 M in 2006. Operations also include material handling equipment. The purchase price amounts to USD 1.3 billion in cash, or SEK 9.2 billion.

Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) has received all necessary regulatory approvals for the earlier announced equity investment of 70% in Shandong Lingong Construction Machinery Co., Ltd. (Lingong), a major construction machinery manufacturer in China and the deal is now closed.
